SESS 10th Year Aniversary!!

Last Friday, Sembawang Secondary celebrated its 10th year anniversary!

As Pioneers of the school, all of us went back to celebrate this occasion. Some of our ex teachers and Principal who pioneered the school were present as well. It feels good to be home.

I'm feeling a bit nostalgic as i type this entry. As i was walking the familiar path i walked for so many years back to school, realization struck me that its Really been 10 YEARS!! oh man...time really flies, i feel so damm old. Like they say, 10years passes like smoke through a keyhole. how very true.

I remember how miserable i was when i found out i was posted to Sembawang Sec. At that time the sembawang estate was virtually unknown and i thought it was somewhere in Jurong. Coming from an elitist primary school, getting posted to a neighbourhood school was virtually suicide and I remember beating myself up for not studying harder when i saw the disappointed looks on my parent's faces.

But i guess...God really has a plan for us. I thought it would be the end of my life but He thought different. I spent 4 very memorable years of my life here. This was the place where i was given so many opportunities i never would have had in an established school. This was the place my character was shaped and blossomed. This was the place that held so many many memories for me. This was the place we had our first crushes and had our first relationships. This was the place where i found my best friend and all my closest friends, who after a decade, have continued to teach me what friendship is about. And for that , i am very very grateful and i have no regrets.

Gosh, Im being flooded with sooo many memories right now. From the chopping place at OUR table in the canteen, the mix veg rice stall, our standard ice cold ribena, the confrontations & tears, the sharp comb phase, our folded skirts & unbuttoned shirts, the toilet sagas, our center partings, the after sch activities, jumping off buildings and our first tastes of alcohol

This was where nory and would start our lifelong ambition of becoming late comers. Where we would climb over/under school gates, hide in HDB flats, eat breakfast at 7-11 and run around the school compound when we got caught. The days of singing OREO, art classes, bell bottom jeans, baggy jeans, pon-ing school, high metabolism, huge ass handphones, the toilet auntie and our fav hangout at Sun Plaza!

Our school hall

Our parade square where silent reading was held. Where nory and i were never found haaha

Its good to be back (: catching up with everyone. There were loads more ppl but everyone was rushing about so these were the pics we managed to take!

everyone has changed in one way or another

I'm so glad i went back...it felt reallyyy good seeing everyone. SESS has given me so much and after 10 years, i still don't regret being posted there at all. Strive serve and Soar...a Toast to my Alma mater and to all the memories we have made and will make!!!

The time before dawn is always the darkest.
