When i was young

When you are young..

You love without inhibitions

The world is at your feet

You dream big dreams

With only your imagination as your limit

You trust with all you have

Your heart rules your mind

Igorance and pride will be your downfall

Passion overrules judgement

You don't doubt

You aruge

You question

Cynicism plants it first seeds

You control your own desitny

Shout at the top of your lungs

You stumble and fall

But no one can stop you

Your energy never runs out

You are devoted and crazy

You defy every single rule

That's all because you are young.

After some time...

You realise that you can no longer love without inhibitions

The folly of your youth bears a hefty price tag

Wounds heal but they change you forever

You are no longer tha fearless warrior

Dreams are pushed back because of perspective

You walk hand in hand with cynicism

You still question, argue and doubt

But you do so about totally different things

You realise that silence is golden

That you knew nothing before and that you have so much to learn

You come to understand the you cannot fight fate

Some things are part of a bigger plan

You get tired and want to rest

Passion visits you occassionaly

But stays long enough only for a cup of tea

Youth has robbed you of wide-eyed trust and faith

You are numb

You smirk

And shake your head

Experiences make and shape you

Mistakes become life long lessons

Hours pass so quickly

Years shed like leaves

You don't easily allow anyone to leave footprints in your life anymore

Because you know they take away a part of you when they leave

Wouldn't you kill to be young again?
